Do you ship direct to customer if required?
Yes and it will be under plain packaging, please see 'How do I place an order' 2nd paragraph.
What are the varnish options?
We offer Matte, Satin and Gloss Museum Grade varnish. The matte is a true matte and you see no visible signs of varnish but the print is protected. This is a significant advantage over heat sealing as you always get a slight sheen with that method. Also, a heat sealed canvas could not be classed as a 'Fine art canvas'. Satin adds a sheen to the canvas. Gloss is very glossy and is quite reflective so should only be chosen if you require a very vibrant canvas and something 'a bit different'.
Can I clean the canvas if necessary?
You are able to wipe the canvas with a slightly damp cloth to clean any marks, should they get onto the canvas.
What sets Procanvas apart from the other suppliers?
We exclusively supply photographers and artists. Nearly all other companies supply to the public as well even if they have a 'trade website'. We only produce canvases and are fully focused on all stages of production and advancements in technology. We print at the highest resolution with the latest printers, use archival certified canvas, museum grade varnish, laminated pine stretcher bars and stick to all manufacturer guidelines. Our product can be described as a 'fine art canvas'.
What file type and resolution should my image be?
Please send srgb highest quality JPEG files at 300dpi. If you would like us to upscale images, we can do. We use genuine fractals software to achieve this. Please ensure your image is correctly proportioned.
How do I size my image?
If you require an image wrap, you need to allow 2” extra on each edge for a deep frame and 1.25” for a narrow. For example, for a 20x16” deep frame image wrap, the image would need to measure 20x24” ensuring no vital detail within 2” of each edge. If you require white, black or coloured sides then send your image at exact frame size and put in the order comments box 'white sides/black sides/sample colour from sky for sides' etc.,
What colour management do you offer?
We have a custom profile created in house that takes into account our actual printers and workflow system. If you are using a calibrated monitor then the results you will get back will be a very good match. Please remember that a monitor and a matte canvas have different light sources and we can't guarantee 100% perfection (also make sure the brightness isn't set too high on your monitor). However, we do have numerous customers who comment very favourably on our colour reproduction. Our technical expert Richard was previously a colour specialist for Xerox.
What are your Delivery charges?
Each order is £8.50 plus VAT to ship regardless of number of canvases. If you require a number of canvases at the same time, please make sure they go on the same order.
How are the canvases packaged and who is delivery by?
Canvases are wrapped in acid free tissue paper, then bubble wrapped, then boxed according to size and quantity. They are delivered via FEDEX next day courier once despatched off our system.
What is your turnaround time?
All orders are despatched within 7 working days.
Why do the canvases take up to 7 working days?
All canvases are printed using the highest quality printing techniques. Printer, canvas, ink and coating manufacturers specify a minimum time for the ink and coating to cure. Beware of companies who offer very fast turnarounds. It is not possible to produce a 'Museum Grade Canvas' quickly. Using heat sealing for protection does speed the process up but you cannot achieve a true matte finish, there will be a thin plastic film over the canvas and the product cannot be described as a 'fine art canvas'.
Can you fulfil urgent orders?
Yes but we ask that this is only requested if absolutely necessary. We will advise on what steps may have to be taken i.e. less curing time.
Do you offer custom sizes?
We ask that our customers try to stay within our large range of stock sizing. However, if it is essential that a canvas is a certain non stock size then we can have the bars custom cut. This will add a few days to your order. In your order you need to select the next size up and put the actual size in the comments box. For example if you required a 25x15 then order a 26x15 and in the comments box put 'actual size 25x15'.
How do I hang the canvas?
The canvas is fitted with a custom hanger (or 2 if it's large). There is a serrated edge to make levelling easy. All you require are standard 3 pin picture hooks to go in the wall.
